Lima, May 2025. On World Nutrition Day, the importance of adopting healthier eating
habits is highlighted. In this context, fish, in its multiple presentations, stands out as an
exceptional source of essential nutrients that often goes unnoticed in daily diets.
Fish provides Omega-3 fatty acids, high-quality protein and fundamental minerals for
the correct functioning of the body. Including fish regularly in meals is key to
maintaining good health and achieving the recommend daily dose of Omega-3
(between 250 and 500 mg, according to the World Health Organization).
The Peruvian sea offers species such as Peruvian jack mackerel, mackerel and tuna,
which stand out for their high Omega-3 content and versatility in the kitchen. Thanks to
their canned presentation, these species become accessible, long-lasting and easy to
incorporate into daily nutrition. Recipes such as stews, salads or sandwiches can be
transformed into complete and nutritious meals just by opening a can.
Thanks to advances in preservation methods, canned fish products not only facilitate
frequent consumption but also preserve up to 95% of their nutrients, becoming a
reliable alternative for everyday use. Among them, mackerel stands out, providing 2.5
grams of Omega-3 per 100 grams.
“Canned fish represents a practical way to take care of our health without
complications. It provides good fats, protein and essential micronutrients, and it is ideal
for those looking for accessible and quick solutions in their daily nutrition,” said Cynthia
Osorio Lench, Head of Quality Management at Hayduk.
Today more than ever, habitually including fish in the diet is a simple and effective way
to improve health, take advantage of local marine resources and promote more
balanced and sustainable nutrition.
